Another Central Minister, Kapil Sibbal has once again come with an idea which has been criticized all over the nation. Telecom Minister wants social media giants to ensure the stopping of derogatory material online. He made a strong statement in media that, the social medias not complying to their rules will be banned or legal action against them will be taken.
The Government Officials have been meeting the official from Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Yahoo in order to get removed the offensive materials from the social medias, specially regarding the images and comments made against Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh.
Remind you that people has been posting and updating various comments and images of various personalities and they use to reveal their feeling whether they are for or against them. Facebook and Twitter helped greatly during the revolution brought into India by Anna. Also, it's been reported that many of the fan pages which where against Congress have been blocked so that to stop the passage of messages.
Now, Kapil Sibbal has made a statement that offensive materials from the social medias should be removed otherwise legal actions would be posed. in reply to this Facebook spokesperson replied that, "It will remove any content which is offensive, anti-social, threatening and incites violence".
While Google search engine slapped their proposal saying that, "We work really hard to make sure that people have as much access to information as possible, while also following the law. This means that when content is illegal, we abide by local law and take it and even where content is legal but breaks or violates our own terms and conditions we take that down too, once we have been notified about it".
"But when content is legal and does not violate our policies, we will not remove it just because it is controversial, as we believe that people's differing views, so long as they are legal, should be respected and protected," the spokes person from Google added.
Telecom Minister said that the government wouldn't like to put it hands into social media sites but, if they do not comply to the rules and regulations "then it is the duty of the government to think of steps that we need".
